Airbus A330-200 - Garuda Indonesia
PT Garuda Indonesia is the flag carrier of Indonesia and based at Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The airline was named after the mystical giant bird Garuda, the carrier of the mythical god Vishnu, and started flying in 1949 with a Douglas DC-3.
Garuda was and is operator of several widebody airliners, like the Boeing 747, McDonnell Douglas DC-10 and MD-11, Airbus A300, A330 and for a short time some A340s. On order are 10 Boeing 777-300ERs to replace Boeing 747-400s.
In June 2007, all Indonesian airlines, including Garuda, were banned from European Union airports. The ban was lifted in July 2009 and in 2010 Garuda started a service from Jakarta to Amsterdam Schiphol via Dubai. The service is flown with Airbus A330-200 aircraft as shown on the picture, taken at Schiphol.
