Airbus A340 - Cathay Pacific
Cathay Pacific from Hong Kong is a big all-widebody airline. It was formed in 1946 and its first widebody airliner was the Lockheed L-1011 TriStar of which it introduced the first aircraft in 1975. Today's fleet consists of more than 130 widebody airliners: the Airbus A330 and A340 plus the Boeing 747 and 777.
In 1994 and 1995 Cathay Pacific took delivery of four A340-200 aircraft and from 1996 eightteen A340-300Xs joined the fleet. In 2002 and 2003 Cathay introduced three A340-600s, leased from ILFC. About half of the A340-300s is still in service. The photograph shows an A340-300 departing from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.
