Airbus A340 - China Airlines
China Airlines of Taiwan has its homebase at Taoyuan International Airport. The airline was founded in December 1959 and became a widebody operator in 1976, when it acquired two ex-Delta Air Lines Boeing 747-100 aircraft. These were followed by four new Boeing 747SPs in 1977. Other widebodies which are or were part of the China Airlines fleet are the Airbus A300, A330 and A340, plus the McDonnell Douglas MD-11. The airline has the Boeing 777-300ER and the Airbus A350 on order.
The airline took delivery of six A340-300s of which the first joined the airline in April 2001. A seventh aircraft, ex-Singapore Airlines, was operated from 2001 to 2003.
The photograph shows an A340-300 approaching Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.
