Airbus A340-300 - Lufthansa
Lufthansa, the national airline of Germany, flies a large intercontinental fleet, including Airbus A340-300, A340-600, Airbus A330-200, A330-300 and Boeing 747. Together with Air France, Lufthansa was the first operator of the Airbus A340-200. The first aircraft were delivered in 1993 and a total of nine A340-200's were taken from the factory. Already in the same year Lufthansa received its first of 29 stretched Airbus A340-300 aircraft. They were replacing the DC-10. Later Lufthansa also bought the much bigger A340-600.
The large photograph shows an Airbus A340-300 taking off from Düsseldorf Airport in Germany, from where the airline offers a small number of intercontinental destinations. On the small photograph below is a Lufthansa A340 in Star Alliance colours departing Frankfurt.
