Boeing 747-200 - Aerolineas Argentinas
In 1949 four Argentinian airlines were melted together to form Aerolíneas Argentinas-Empresa del Estado, commonly known as Aerolíneas Argentinas, or just Aerolíneas. The combined airline started operations in late 1950. Today it is the largest airline of Argentina and its main bases are Aeroparque Jorge Newbery (domestic and regional flights) and Ministro Pistarini International Airport (mainly international services), both serving Buenos Aires.
Aerolíneas became a widebody operator in december 1976 with the delivery of its first Boeing 747-200. It flew a total of nineteen 747s: fifteen 747-200s, one 747SP and three 747-400s. It operated the 747 until 2007. The final Jumbo Jet in the AerolÍneas fleet was LV-OPA, shown on the photograph below. Both pictures were taken at Frankfurt Rhein/Main Airport.
