Boeing 747-200 - European Aircharter EAL
European Aircharter (European Aviation Air Charter) was a British airline founded in 1989. It was based at Bournemouth Airport and began flying BAC One-Eleven and Boeing 737 aircraft. From 2001 it acquired six ex-British Airways Boeing 747-200s, which it used for flights to North America.
The aircraft were painted black and white and had a colourful string over the mid-fuselage and engines. The colour of the string was different per aircraft: red, yellow, pink, blue or green. In 2004 European ran into financial problems and stopped operating the 747.
The photographs show European 747s with a red and yellow string over the fuselage. The photos are taken at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (top) and London Gatwick (below).
