Boeing 747-200 - Tower Air
The US airline Tower Air was founded in Augtust 1982 and operated scheduled and charter flights until it was declared bankrupt in 2000. Scheduled services included New York-Brussels-Tel Aviv and for a short time New York-Los Angeles.
The airline also operated many flights on behalf of the US Ministry of Defense, transporting US military personnel to overseas places. Another activity of the airline were hadj flights to bring moslims to Mecca.
The only aircraft type in the fleet was the Boeing 747, of which Tower Air operated two versions, the 747-100 and 747-200B. In total the airline flew 34 different aircraft, all secondhand and most of them for short periods.
The picture on top, taken at Miami, shows a 747 in full Tower Air livery. Because many aircraft served the airline only for a short time, the paint scheme often wasn't complete or showed reminiscences to former owners (see photo's below, taken at Amsterdam Schiphol and London Heathrow).
