Boeing 747-8F - Cargolux
Cargolux from Luxembourg is a leading cargo airline. It became a launch customer for the Boeing 747-8F when it ordered 10 aircraft in November 2005. It became the first operator of the type after receiving its first aircraft on October 12, 2011.
Cargolux was founded in March 1970 by Luxair, the Salen Shipping Group, Loftleidir (Iceland) and other partners in Luxembourg. Its first aircraft was a Canadair CL-44 freighter and Cargolux’s first flight went to Hong Kong in September 1970. In 1979 Cargolux started operating its first Boeing 747 freighters and today it has an all-Boeing 747 freighter fleet of around twenty aircraft (747-400s and 747-8Fs).
