Boeing 747-8F - Cathay Pacific
Cathay Pacific Airways from Hong Kong is one of the world's leading international air cargo carriers. The airline's long-haul dedicated cargo services started in 1981 with a twice-a-week Hong Kong-Frankfurt-London service operated jointly with Lufthansa. Since then Cathay Pacific Cargo began scheduled freighter services to more than forty destinations. Cathay has a large all-widebody airliner fleet, including a large number of cargo aircraft, including the Boeing 747-400F
and the 747-8F.
The photograph shows a Cathay Pacific 747-8F on approach to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. Some characteristics of the -8F compared to earlier 747-versions are clearly visible on this picture, like the longer fuselage, the redesigned wingtips and the saw-tooth pattern on the trailing edges of the jet engine nozzles, which help reduce noise.
