Boeing 777-200 - Delta

Compared to other big US airlines like American and United, Delta flies a rather small number of Boeing 777's. The airline ordered eight 777-200ER aircraft, which were put in service in 1999 and 2000. Later the airline ordered ten more Triple Sevens of the 777-200LR version.

Delta has its roots in Huff Daland Dusters, that was formed in 1924 in Macon, Georgia, as the world's first crop dusting company. In 1925 the company moved to Monroe, Louisiana and it adopted the name 'Delta Air Lines' in 1929. In 1941 the airline, promoting itself as 'Airline of the South', moved its operations to Atlanta, still its homebase today. Since the takeover of Northwest in 2008 the airline is named just 'Delta'.

The picture above shows a Delta 777 in its newest colour scheme. The Triple Seven on the picture below wears an earlier livery. The aircraft on the third photo is painted in a special livery to promote the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City.
