Boeing 777-200 - Japan Air System
Very colourful Triple Sevens are flown by Japan Air System (JAS). The airline was taken over, however, by Japan Air Lines (JAL) in 2004 and that means the repainting of the beautiful JAS 777-200s to standard JAL livery. JAS is now named Japan Airlines Domestic.
JAS (formerly known as Toa Domestic Airlines) was the result of a merger between Toa Airways (founded in 1953) and Japan Domestic Airlines. The latter was also the result of a merger when, in 1964, North Japan Airlines, Nitto Air Lines and Fuji Airlines decided to form one airline. Toa Domestic changed its name to Japan Air System in 1988.
At the moment that it was taken over by JAL, Japan Air System operated seven Triple Sevens on domestic services within Japan. The aircraft on the picture is taxiing to its stand at Sapporo New Chitose Airport.
