Lockheed L-1011 TriStar - LTU

LTU was a German charter airline, which operated the Lockheed TriStar from 1973 until they were replaced by Boeing 767s and McDonnell Douglas MD-11s. The red roofs of these aircraft were a common sight at LTU's homebase Düsseldorf International. The airline was taken over by Air Berlin in 2007 and in 2008 the LTU-brand was dropped.

LTU operated a total of thirteen TriStars, mostly standard versions, but also including three short-fuselage long-range L1011-500 aircraft. The pictures show several LTU TriStars at Düsseldorf. Below an ex-Eastern Airlines TriStar is shown in a hybrid livery.
