McDonnell Douglas MD-11F - FedEx

Federal Express (FedEx) is the world's biggest express transport company, delivering packages and freight. The company was founded in 1971 and started operations in 1973 with a number of Dassault Falcon 20 bizjets in cargo configuration. From 1977, after air cargo deregulation in the USA, the company grew rapidly and soon built up enormous fleets of Boeing 727s, DC-10s, MD-11s, A300s and A310s. Many aircraft were acquired on the second-hand market.

With 58 aircraft in the fleet Federal Express is the biggest McDonnell Douglas MD-11 operator in the world. The aircraft on the picture is approaching Anchorage Ted Stevens Airport.
