TAP Portugal has taken delivery of nineteen Airbus A330-900neo aircraft. They were delivered in late 2018 and in 2019. Airbus handed over the airline's first A330-900 in November 2018. The aircraft on the photo, MSN 1925, joined the TAP fleet in March 2019 as CS-TUF.
The A330neo's replaced TAP's earlier A340s and A330-200s and -300s. Initiatlly, the airline ordered the Airbus A350-800s for this purpose, but Airbus cancelled this smallest version of the A350. TAP first switched to the bigger A350-900, but after Airbus launched the A330neo, TAP switched to the smaller A330-900. The reason for TAP was that the A350 offers more range than the airline needed. The A330neo suited TAP's needs better.
