Airbus A340 - Safi Airways
Safi Airways is a private airline from Afghanistan, founded in 2006 and based in Kabul. Its first widebody type was a Boeing 767-200ER, in service since 2007, followed by an Airbus A340-300 in November 2009. The Airbus A340 was used for an air service Kabul-Frankfurt started in June 2009. This service was suspended in November 2010 when the EU banned all Afghan airlines from European airports because of safety concerns.
Safi Airways still flies the single Boeing 767, which is used by the Afghan president Hamid Karzai on visits to other countries. The photo of the A340 was taken in Summer 2010, while approaching Frankfurt Rhein/Main Airport.
