Boeing 747-200B - SAA South African Airways
South African Airways (SAA, formerly also known as SAL, Suid-Afrikaanse Lugdiens) is the biggest airline of South Africa. It was founded in 1934 by the South African government after it acquired another airline, Union Airways.
SAA ordered its first widebody aircraft in March 1968: five 747-200Bs, of which Boeing deliverd the first in October 1971. The airline flew 23 Jumbo Jets: the 200B, the -200M (first delivered in 1980), the 747SP, the -300 (1983) and the -400. The Jumbo Jets were replace by the A340-600.
