Finnair has painted one of its Airbus A350 widebody airliners in a special livery designed by the Finnish fashion company Marimmekko.
Finnair has a long-standing relationship with Marimekko. During the years several aircraft have been painted in designs by Marimekko. The design are not only visible on the fuselages of the aircraft, but also in the interior textiles and tableware in the aircraft.
The design on the A350 is named 'Marimekko Kivet' and dates from 1956. It was made by cutting out rounds of coloured paper with scissors. This resulted in shapes which look like rough-edged stones.
The aircraft, MSN 134, registered OH-LWL, was delivered to Finnair in September 2017 in this special livery. Another Finnair widebody with a fashion livery is Airbus A330-300 OH-LTO. The design on this aircraft is named 'Marimekko Unikko'.
